Woman attacked near Spar shop in Hadleigh

A woman shopper was left with minor injuries after being attacked by unknown assailants in Hadleigh.

Police were called to Angel Street in the Long Bessels area of Haleigh around 11pm last Thursday (August 31), after the woman was assaulted as she left the Spar shop.

It is alleged members of a group of between eight and 10 people were fighting among themselves when one of them launched an attack on the innocent woman who was nothing to do with the group.

The group was seen heading away from the town centre before the assault on the unnamed victim and the shouting and fighting had already raised concerns among residents that called the police.

It is understood good Samaritans intervened to protect the woman and the group left in a van and on bikes.

Police confirmed they are conducting an investigation into the incident and enquiries are ongoing.

Anyone with any information are asked to contact Suffolk Police.
