Siam Hall farmers Will Spence and Abbi Taylor have set up a festive spooky pumpkin patch, ready to be picked for the Halloween season.

Folklore has it that the pumpkins come to life to get revenge on their farmers, but Will and Abbi have been growing their pumpkin patch since 2018 without anything untoward happening - yet.

"I don't know where the idea came from originally but we just wanted to invite people in to see what we do and to enjoy the farm," said Abbi.

"As farmers, we need to do more do engage with the public and let people know how their food is grown and pumpkins are a great way to do that.

"This will be our fourth year and every year the popularity of the patch has just got bigger and bigger.

"Last year we were just absolutely overwhelmed with how popular it was."

The scary halloween monsters come from all the surrounding villages to feast on Abbi and Will's pumpkin patch, who said: "We get people in fancy dress, those who dress their babies up and kids in witches outfits, skeletons and Draculas and we hope to see many more this year.

"We have definitely got the biggest pumpkins we have ever grown, there are some absolute whoppers. Some I can barely even pick up, near enough the size of car tyres."

During covid, the couple made sure to put special measures in place: "We have a one way traffic system with a bigger car park and we planted three times as many pumpkins," said Abi

"The pumpkin patch is all outdoors and we will make the patch as safe as we can adhering with any covid rules applicable."

At Siam Hall Pumpkin Patch you can buy a pumpkin at as little as £1 with getting more expensive depending on their size and colour. There are also ghostly white pumpkins available.

The patch is open from October 23 -31, throughout the October half term.

Visitors are encouraged to bring welly boots and rain coats for muddier days and dogs are allowed if they are kept on their lead.

The patch of spooktacular pumpkins can be found at Siam Hall, CO10 5LA. When travelling, look out for the road signs on the A134 and A1071 junction.
