Road closure warnings as cycle event comes to Hadleigh and Bildeston

Hundreds of people of all ages are anticipated to turn out to watch one of the world's most prestigious cycle races whizzes through Hadleigh and Bildeston

School children will be among spectators lining the route as the first stage Women's Tour heads through the area at lunchtime on Monday, June 6.

This is the seventh time the Suffolk has hosted a stage of the race which is part of the prestigious UCI Women's World Tour series, and has seen the likes of which has been won by the likes of Marianne Vos (2014), Lizzie Deignan (2016 and 2019) and Coryn Labecki (2018), and attracts an annual roadside audience of 300,000 fans.

The 88.4 mile (142.1km) race race sets off from Colchester at 11am and is expected to reach Hadleigh just after 1pm.

The racers will take part in a point scoring sprint session along Hadleigh High Street before making their way to Bildeston for a Queen of the Mountains test at Nedging Tye.

Road closures will be in place in Hadleigh town centre after the riders make their way from the A1070.

The tour will rejoin the bypass and loop through Bildeston going through Wattisham, Needham Market and Stowmarket before heading to Lavenham and then on to the finish on Angel Hill in Bury St Edmunds.

For the who can't watch the vent live, then you can catch highlights on Channel 4 at 10pm on the Monday evening.
