The future of a long-established family business in Hadleigh High Street is in doubt as they look to sell up.

Keith Avis newsagent is a family business that has been working from the same High Street premises in Hadleigh since 1969.

Currently turnover is split between newspapers and retail sales with average weekly takings in the region of £14,000.

It is expected a new owner would look at what new lines could be added to further boost the turnover.

An offer is understood to have been made for the newsagents but its future use is not guaranteed.

The proposed price for the whole business has been quoted as £149,950.

Meanwhile, the print arm of the business, which produced the Community News series of magazines for Hadleigh and The villages has been sold.

The printer is based in a listed building of significant architectural interest that has been in continuous use as a printing works since around 1770.

It has been bought by Cattisham based printers PFP, owned by Jason Holder, who was listed as the sole director of Kieth Avis Printers Ltd last month (2 March 2023).

Mr Holder, aged 49 is listed as living in Ipswich.
