Hadleigh business 'Lyndas Homemade and Homegrown' has been nominated for a small business award after only two years of operating.

The business which operates from a variety of local farmer markets has been recognised for its range of jams , pickles , chutneys and flavoured gins, by Suffolk Small Business Awards 2024.

Owner Lynda Andrews, of Hadleigh, says that as much of the produce used in the products is grown on the smallholding ' Constable Farm' she shares with her partner Kevin.

Lynda said: "Using both raised beds and a poly-tunnel we grow a mixed variety of tomatoes , chillis ,peppers as well as a range of root vegetables and soft fruits.

"Making the gins started as a challenge when friends liked what I was making for myself and as Christmas presents and now I sell from farmers markets including Boxford , Belstead and Christchurch Park and have seen produce even being sent to France , Denmark and Italy.

"On the smallholding we're as organic as possible with as minimal use of commercial pesticides and composts as we can be but with poultry and sheep and pigs about theres a ready supply of manure for the compost heap."

Lynda was nominated in the Retail Small Business Finalists category.

This category recognises outstanding retail businesses that offer exceptional products, and create memorable shopping experiences both in person, online or on the high street.

"To even be nominated for the award is amazing," added Lynda. "I've only been running for two years and it makes for an exciting future... within the next few months we'll be trialing a bespoke lavender gin for a local flower farm as well as returning to the Christchurch Park farmers market with Prestige Events , who have been so supportive."
