UPDATED: Hadleigh Town council by-election results are good for Independents

UPDATED: Six new Hadleigh councillors were today elected onto the town council.
Three Independents gained seats across the Hadleigh North and South wards, with one Green and two from Hadleigh Together.
Independent councillors Huw Roberts and Bill Wilson took the Hadleigh North ward, with Roberts winning with 340 votes and Wilson gaining 275 votes. The duo were elected ahead of Lib Dem Trevor Sheldrick and Angela Wiltshire (Labour).
The count was held at Endeavour House in Ipswich today, and out of an electorate of 2,082, 649 ballot papers were issued, meaning a turn-out of 23% according to the official results sheet.
Brian Loftus was the third Independent to win a seat on to the town council as he was successful in Hadleigh South, along with Gale Pryor from the Greens, and Carl Beer and Ben Nixon of Hadleigh Together.
Beer topped the poll, with Pryor second, followed by Dixon and Loftus, in a 33.6% turnout, after 1,504 ballot sheets were issued to a potential electorate of 4,475.
The town count results follow Friday's announcement that Mick Fraser held on to his Suffolk County Council seat. He is also a Babergh ward member in Hadleigh along with Kathryn Grandon and Sian Dawson.
Meanwhile, Christine Johnson was elected unopposed to Polstead's parish council.
