Hadleigh town council has called yet another extraordinary general meeting to discuss matters regarding the pavilion at Layham Road Sports Ground to be held in secret again.

Town councillors earlier in the week failed to agree on the details about a new pavilion being built at Layham Road Sports Ground after original building was burnt down by an arsonist.

Although Tuesday's confidential meeting was held behind closed doors, leaks about councillors disagreeing have subsequently emerged, with fears voiced that the pavilion would not be built.

After the failure to reach agreement on Tuesday, with both the decisions deferred, councillors will try again on Monday, by suspending its own rules on holding extraordinary meetings, in order to force a decision, and award the contract the same day.

Clerk Wendy Brame, who has still not passed the recognised CilCa qualifications, has been criticised on social media for the way the meetings have been handled, although the Mayor Gordon McLeod makes the decisions. Although not keen on the public being part of the decision-making process, he was spotted filming members of the public at Tuesdays meeting..

Questions have been raised about the legality of the decision making process, and why the request to decide on the amount a Pubic Works Loans Board funding is being held in secret.

Hadleigh taxpayers will be responsible for repaying the loan for the project estimated to be more than £800,000 in total, with an insurance pay out going part way to paying too.

Concerns have been raised about the need for a large pavilion, especially as plans for a 3G pitch at Layham Road have been scrapped.

It is understood while a pavilion is still wanted by many members of the public, and some councillors, concerns about the size, design and costs have been raised.

Hadleigh's project officer Alicja Barnes was not at the meeting to answer detailed questions, a frustration aired by former councillors over the past couple of years when she does not attend key meetings.

It is expected as the meeting on Monday is in normal work hours, Ms Barnes will attend.
