A Hadleigh restaurant has been handed one-star food hygiene rating by Babergh's Food Standards Agency.

The Royal Bengal in the town's High Street was inspected on December 8 last year.

Inspectors reported improvement was necessary in its cleanliness and condition of facilities and building (including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control) to enable good food hygiene

Concerns were also raised in the management of food safety and improvement was necessary in system or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, so the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.

It is possible the Royal Bengal will be given a higher rating after a re-inspection.

The Royal Bengal offers a sit in restaurant or takeaway and has been given a four star average on TripAdvisor.

Meanwhile, The Real Thai Food takeaway service was handed a one star rating and the Box River Cafe in Boxford, two stars.
