Shop staff uncertainty as Hadleigh M&Co confirms branch closure

Hadleigh is to lose another shop in its own centre after a national chain confirmed a branch closure.

M&Co will shut up its shop inside the East of England Co-op in the town on Saturday as part of a nationwide closure programme.

An M&Co spokeswoman confirmed the closure but was unable to offer any reassurances to staff who could lose their jobs.

The Glasgow-based clothing company has already closed 47 branches after going into administration last year and this week refused to comment on the uncertain future of its Suffolk branches in Sudbury, Stowmarket, Woodbridge and Felixstowe.

M&Co's closure is the latest in closures on the High Street with TSB closing its doors for the last time in July.

The Hadleigh shop is offering items at reduced prices in a bid to clear its shelves before setting own.
