Hadleigh will be able to enjoy an extra special late night Christmas shopping event in December after councillors last night approved closing the High Street.

Market stalls and shops in the High Street will be open from the Kings Head roundabout and Duke Street between 2pm and 10pm on December 4 for the event.

Councillors also approved spending of up to £2,059 for Sudbury Community warden to marshall the event and for signage, will will be funded by the government;s Welcome Back Fund, administered by Babergh.

Letters will be sent to all residents and shop owners and businesses advising them of the plans and reassuring them access to homes and premises will be available,
