This weekend will be packed with Jubilee festivities and street parties all across Felixstowe and the nation.

However, the Silver Jubilee of 1977 is still remembered by many with fond memories and, in the case of Hitcham, more permanent reminders also remain.

Just 12km north of Hadleigh, the civic parish and village of Hitcham have a village sign standing at the entrance of the driveway to All Saints' Church.

The sign was erected in 1977 in celebration of the Silver Jubilee of HRH The Queen.

Alongside the reference to the Silver Jubilee, the sign's design also depicts the village's agricultural past. The design feature four horseshoes, a scythe and a wheatsheaf.
