Firefighters spent more than 90 minutes with a person who fell and could not get back up in Hadleigh High Street last night.

Two fire appliances, one from Hadleigh and another from Princes Street in Ipswich went to the incident at 9.54pm last night and stayed with the stricken person until an ambulance crew was able to look after them. The firefighters left the scene at 11.37pm.

A Suffolk Fire and rescue spokesman said: "Crews were able to get the individual returned to a chair while they waited for the ambulance service to arrive."
