Hadleigh councillors are tonight expected to rubber stamp spending nearly £2,000 of taxpayers money to hire out picnic tables.

An extraordinary meeting has been called to discuss the hire of 24 picnic tables at a cost of £1,805 + VAT for The Big Lunch being held on Sunday June 5 as part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebration weekend.

Councillors will also be asked to agree paying out £685 for an entertainment duo to play at the town's Jubilee Beacon Lighting Up Event on Thursday June 2.

A confidential session has also be put on the agenda to discuss staffing matters, which Nub News understands will including increasing the clerks wages and restructuring employees' responsibilities.

Full details of tonight's meeting in the town hall, which starts at 7pm and a link to join by Zoom, can be found here.
