Hadleigh councillors agree to spend more than £2,000 on polling cards for December election

Councillors have agreed to spend £2,200 on polling cards ahead of an election to fill the two vacancies in Hadleigh (South) ward.
It was agreed by members at last Thursday's full council meeting to issue polling cards to all those eligible to vote if more than two nominees were put forward for the election, on Thursday, December 2.
Although polling cards are not needed to actually vote, they show residents if the candidates are in their ward and it is hoped that will eliminate any confusion.
The vacancies occurred when Hadleigh Together members Richard Hinton and Lisa Gordon both resigned for personal reasons.
Nominations are now open for the election, and will close at 4pm on Friday, November 5, with the names of those standing revealed on Monday November 8.
If only two people are nominated, then the polling cards will not be needed and the expenditure will be cancelled.
