Friday's Fascinating Flower Facts

Also known as Stinking Willie, Ragwort is a yellow flower that blooms in August. Although it has bad name for being toxic to horses if they eat lot of it, it makes a good gargle for ulcerated throat and mouth, and is said to take away the pain caused by the sting of bees.

The plant is said to have got its nickname after it spread into the path of William, Duke of Cumberland, as a Jacobite rebellion reached its peak at the 1746 Battle of Culloden.
