Covid cases continue to fall in Babergh, according to the latest figures available.

In the last week of reported data up to 8 February there have been 85 cases in Babergh, down from 111 the week before, and all other areas in Suffolk have decreased in cases since the previous week.

Meanwhile, a family run business in Hadleigh has confirmed it has asked 13 workers to self isolate, including six members of staff that tested positive for the coronavirus.

Keejays, in Lady Lane Industrial Estate has taken all the necessary precautions to protect its staff following the incident and worked closely with the relevant authorities.

A Keejays Spokesperson said: "We can confirm that six colleagues at Keejays have tested positive for Covid-19, but there hasn't been an outbreak.

"As critical workers, we have stringent and COVID-secure working practices in place, which are outlined in our approved Covid-19 Risk Assessment. These include social distancing, hand washing, sanitising and use of PPE, as well as giving hand sanitiser and disposable gloves to all team members to take home.

"To ensure the safety of the whole team, we encouraged their direct colleagues to self-isolate, even though Covid secure working practises have been followed, minimising the chance of exposure.

"As a business we work in partnership with Babergh Council EHO and the Public Health Specialist Covid-19 Centre Team at Suffolk County Council to ensure our colleagues safety and security, and have implemented a clear escalation process to report cases as highlighted in this instance.

"As a family business which has been a part of the community for over 35 years, the health and safety of our employees is absolutely paramount and we will continue to ensure that all possible measures are taken."

A joint statement from Public Health Suffolk and Babergh District Council said: "We continue to support KeeJays with a small number of Covid cases. Because of the number and nature of these cases, this incident does not warrant an official response from Public Health Suffolk, Public Health England and Babergh District Council, but we continue to offer help and advice when needed.

"We are confident that the business has taken prompt and appropriate action to manage the situation."

In October last year the long-standing, reputable Hadleigh company was highly-commended for its Taste of Keejays Peking Hoi Sin Sauce, in the Great British Food Awards.
