The Christmas craft fair at Kersey Mill, saw many stalls from local creators go to sell their goods.

Many of the stall owners had discovered these talents during lockdown and have now become good enough to sell their wares to the public, on Saturday.

From Crochet hats to Amigurumi toys, here were some of the amazing items and how they were made.

Steven Thompson with his craft business called: The Old School Workshop Homes for Nature, makes fabulous wooden homes for hedgehogs and other wild animals.

Steven said: "All the wood is recycled, mostly recycled oak, people I know in the building trade drop it off for me.

"I used to work in a primary school in Ipswich and they didn't have many resources, that's where I started woodwork.

"I then started off making peoples miniature houses for when they got married, then I started making other things as well and I didn't even know I could do it, it just happened. You get better and better as time goes on, you just do different things.

"I feel like natures up against it whilst house pets aren't, these guys have to live in the colder months that we are in now, it's nice to give a helping hand."

Another amazing skill came from Sarah Atkinson with her business Beach Hut Crafts, who makes incredible felted items from mermaids to fairies.

She said: "The process is called needle felting I've been doing it for over 9 years, what you do is you get sheets of wool and basically stab it with a barbed needle. It sounds very basic but that's literally all you do. You can also do it with carded sheets wool.

"I like to make cows and fairies and obviously Christmas ornaments. I've got a crazy imagination so I like to use loads of different colour to bring my creations to life."

We also met Marita Mathews, who like many, started a hobby during lockdown, which turned into a small side business called: Infatuated Arts.

She said: "I started this last march in lockdown, it took me a few weeks to get the hang of it I couldn't get the magic circles I kept pulling it apart, but finally, hallelujah, I was able to do it.

"The technique is from Japan and its called Amigurumi, I love making the elephant and the reindeers. And the triceratops are really popular."

Many of the crafters will be exhibiting their creations at Hadleigh's Christmas Fayre on Saturday. Full details here.
