Babergh's panning committee today voted to defer two planning applications in Hadleigh so they could conduct site visits and glean more information on the viability.
Nub News reported yesterday how council officers had recommended refusing the two separate applications by Phil Munson to change the use of land at a site off Lady lane, which currently offers a buffer between housing and the industrial park, and a greenfield site at Cobbold's Farm, off the Ipswich Road.
Developers wanted to change the Lady Lane site from employment land to put up 45 houses, which had the support of Hadleigh Town Council. However, Babergh planning team argued it was allocated as employment land and should not be changed.
The applicant's agent Philip Short told the committee the land was deemed by Babergh's own economic team that the land was not viable to be used for employment.
Councillors agreed after debate they wanted to see the layout of the site first hand, and get more information about the viability. It was subsequently decided that the other application, as it was being offered s an alternative employment land site by the same applicant, should also be deferred.
