Plans for a new café and toilet block in Sudbury's Belle Vue Park have been given the green light.

On Wednesday, 10 January, members of Babergh District Council's planning committee unanimously approved the plans, which will provide visitors of the park with modern and accessible facilities.

Included within the new modular building will be a community café which can accommodate up to 50 customers, with both indoor and outdoor seating. There will be four toilets available for public use, as well as an additional fully accessible changing place facility.

To make way for the café and toilet block, the existing 1930s building will be demolished.

Funding was approved for the project in September 2023, which includes use of the proceeds from the sale of Belle Vue House in May 2023.

Derek Davis, Babergh District Council cabinet member for economic growth, said: "Belle Vue Park will continue to move in the right direction thanks to the unanimous approval of these plans.

"We are committed to supporting the regeneration of Sudbury town centre, with the installation of the café providing a welcome lift to the area and giving visitors something new to enjoy."
