In true dramatic style, reminiscent of Hollywood legend Arnold Schwarzenegger, the chairman of a Hadleigh drama group has vowed ''We'll be back'.

Trevor Clarke, who has been involved with the Hadleigh Amateur Dramatic Society (HADS) for nearly 30 years, has moved to reassure both group members and followers that, although the society will be moving to Elmsett for a year, they fully intend to return.

Following committee member Jo Sheldrake's revelation in Nub News, that the group were being forced to leave the town this year and perform in neighbouring village Elmsett, which many members were surprised to learn.

Many were so upset that Mrs Sheldrake tried to suppress the Nub News story, despite its accurate portrayal, by asking social media admins to remove it from their pages, but without explaining why, therefore sowing doubt at its voracity.

Trevor followed up by explaining he group plan to use Elmsett village hall to perform the Wizard of Oz in February next year, then find other venues in Hadleigh after that.

He said: "The interview comments were true but we hadn't told our regular members about the temporary move to Elmsett. As Jo said, it costs us about £3,000 to hire a stage in and holding it in Elmsett would save us money.

"I have to make it clear that HADS is still going to be Hadleigh based and always will. We will continue to put on shows and events in Hadleigh for the public to enjoy.

"I have been involved with HADS since I was a teenager (I'm now 41) and as a committee, we decided we had no choice but to use a different premises for our next panto in February, half term, which will be the Wizard of Oz which has been written by Celsey and Eli.

"It's an exciting time for HADS as we can finally get back to what we enjoy doing - entertaining."

Despite the temptation, Trev insisted the group would not be changing its name to HEADS (Hadleigh Elmsett Amateur Dramatic Society

"As stated HADS is now over 100 years old and has no reason to change its name as we will always be Hadleigh-based but may perform at different venues. Let's bring the entertainment back."
