The incident took place at some point between 6pm and 10.30pm on Friday 22 April in an alleyway off Calais Street, near Morrisons Supermarket. The offence was reported to police on Saturday evening.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the offence yesterday morning, Sunday 24 April, and taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. He has subsequently been released on bail until Sunday 22 May pending further enquiries.

The victim, a teenage girl, is being supported by specialist trained officers as police enquiries continue. A cordon that was in place in the alleyway has since been lifted.

Detectives would like to hear from any witnesses who were in the vicinity of Calais Street during the times stated above and who may have seen anything that may assist the investigation.
