Staff and residents at Hadleigh Nursing Home were thrilled to receive hampers of sweets and chocolates from a local teenager.

Maisie Button, 16, who has a craft enterprise, MaisieMakeshandmade, was a regular visitor to the home in Friars Road, Hadleigh, before the coronavirus lockdown, running stalls at open days and coffee mornings.

Home manager Jan Seal said: "Our residents love seeing Maisie. She started coming when she was raising £4,000 for a school trip to Belize.

"We were delighted to receive the hampers; Maisie said in her accompanying card she just wanted us to know she was thinking of us during this difficult time."

Maisie, who has given Easter and Christmas gifts to residents for the past two years, said: "My trip to Belize was cancelled last year but I have continued my little business because I enjoy it so much.

"All the money I make goes into a savings account to fund university where I want to study veterinary medicine and surgery."

She said she had a close connection with the nursing home as, in ordinary times, she visited every couple of months with her stall.

"It allowed an opportunity for shopping but also a good chat. I'm so grateful for all the help the home has given me and I can't wait to visit again when I'm allowed," she said.
