Hadleigh firefighters were among 27 crews that helped put out a blaze at a thatched cottage in Battisford.

Crews from across Suffolk tackled the blaze, including six from Ipswich East, two from Woodbridge, three from Princes Street, one from Holbrook, one from Framlingham, one from Debenham, one from Needham Market, one from Stowmarket, one from Nayland, one from Sudbury, 2 from Haverhill, 1 from Wickhambrook, 2 from Bury St Edmunds, one from Elmswell, two from Ixworth, one from Newmarket along with the one from Hadleigh.

The fire at the property on Hascot Hill started just at 2pm Friday afternoon, and crews stayed at the scene dampening down to ensure it did not reignite, well into the early hours.

No casualties were reported.

Police briefly closed the main B1078 to help fire crews.

No cause for the fire has yet been established.
