As if on cue, a brief lull in the stormy weather heralded a brilliant evening at Hadleigh Jazz Club, where vocalist Matt Ford lifted the spirits of the audience with a dazzling performance of swinging music.
Joined by Matt Regan and his Quartet, from the moment he stepped onto the stage he grabbed the audience's attention with a stream of swing and film classic favourites.

Babergh district councillor Sian Dawson misled Hadleigh town councillors with a string of inaccurate statements at a public meeting, it has been alleged.
The Hadleigh North member was asked at last Thursday's meeting about the allegations that she had made false claims.
Trades people in Hadleigh are being made aware of tools being stolen in a nearby village.
Police are appealing for witnesses after a van was broken into and up to £3,000 worth of tools stolen in Lavenham.

Hadleigh is set to be hit by more high winds as Storm Franklin sweeps in from the west.
The met Office has confirmed as the low-pressure system is expected to bring high winds during Sunday night and into Monday morning for much of the UK.
