Empty properties and holiday homes in Hadleigh, and other tourist areas in Suffolk, should be made available for Ukrainian refugees fleeing the Russian invasion, it has been suggested.

Efforts are being made across the country for homes to take in Ukrainian nationals landing in the UK.

The Hadleigh based branch of Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, covering the Babergh and Mid Suffolk districts, has unveiled its new campaign priorities to make the area even more attractive for growing businesses.

Suffolk Chamber of Commerce in Central Suffolk was set up two years ago as part of a wider restructuring of Suffolk Chamber's local place boards.

Violent or aggressive behaviour is increasingly becoming the main reason for permanent exclusions in Suffolk schools, including in the Hadleigh area, according to education chiefs – with half of all exclusions for that reason.

A 'deep dive' investigation of permanent exclusions was carried out in June 2020 after numbers doubled within a year, with "persistent disruptive behaviour" accounting for the most.
