A golfer annoyed at the sun going down too early was a main cause of the clocks now going back an hour.

William Willett, the great-great-grandfather of Coldplay's Chis Martin published leaflet in 1907 called The Waste of Daylight, encouraging people to get out of bed earlier. That led to the introduction of moving the clocks back an hour in the UK. Hopefully you enjoyed an extra in bed this morning as the we moved back into GMT, by going back an hour at 01.00.
