An Australian mother has made an unusual appeal for any trinkets bearing her daughter's name - Hadleigh.

After a fruitless search across her home continent, Terri Worthington contacted Nub News in her bid to buy any nicknacks with the name Hadleigh on it, for her five-year-old.

"Hadleigh isn't a popular name here in Australia, as you could imagine, and finding items with her name on them spelt the same way her name is, are impossible to find," Terri told Nub News. "So I was wondering if your readers could help by directing me to find nicknacks and alike (key rings, name plates, etc) with Hadleigh on them?"

Terri described Hadleigh (she calls herself Haddi) as a cheeky and bubbly little surprise baby and added: "She has never been a shy little flower, she could work a room of strangers better than at the age of two than any adult I've ever seen."

Cartoon loving Hadleigh, enjoys dancing, her three much older brothers of 22, 20 and 19, trying new and fun things.

Typically for her age Hadleigh she loves dressing up as all the Disney princesses, having her nails done, and helping her step dad, who is a mechanic, fix a bobcat skidsteer, then going on the test drive.

Terri said: "Hadleigh started school a year early, doing exceptionally well given she's so much younger than most of her classmates. She's a very funny, happy breath of fresh air. She's also a little weird, having a sibling with special needs, we celebrate being different and encourage weird in our home."

Hadleigh got her name after mum Terri wanted something unusual because the size of the Worthington family meant all the typical names have been taken. and they try not to have any of the 28 cousins with the same names.

After reading how the child's name was the one thing they got to keep for the rest of their lives, and how a strong name will help your child through all the good and bad life will throw that them, looked for something powerful and she liked

the name Hadley but it was a bit of a controversial choice at the time.controversial .

Terry explained: "The father was not so pleased at the time because of a radio announcer in Sydney (a shock jock named Ray Hadley). So after looking around at the meaning of Hadleigh, it meant a field of Heather, and was only popular as a unisex name in the 1800's for about 10years - big plusses in my book.

"It is also great for the mum's spy network too as the more unusual the name, the easier it is for a mum to know if its their child up to no good or not.

"One of Ernest Hemingway's wives was Hadley Richardson. At that moment I was sold. Strong name, unusual, but not too unusual and I hadn't heard the name given to another child, or in any of the baby name books.

"Her father Lee, was hung up on the spelling, so at that moment it became Hadleigh, and even though he wasn't thrilled this was going to be her name, now, if you were to ask him - it's the name he chose."

Hadleigh and her family live on the beautiful Central Coast in New South Wales (between Sydney and Newcastle) and the Worthington have a proud English history dating back the Endeavour.
